Cookie Policy
Effective Date: February 11, 2026
Last Updated: February 11, 2026
1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how Colorflare (“we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and similar storage technologies. This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and forms part of our Terms of Service.
2. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to site operators.
Cookies can be “session” cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or “persistent” cookies (remaining on your device for a set period or until you delete them).
3. How Colorflare Uses Cookies
Colorflare does not use cookies.
Unlike most web applications, Colorflare does not set any cookies on your device. Instead, we use your browser's Local Storage to store minimal data required for the Service to function. This is an important distinction — Local Storage data is never automatically sent to our servers with each request (unlike cookies).
4. Local Storage Usage
Although Local Storage is technically not a “cookie,” we disclose its use here for full transparency.
4.1 Data Stored in Local Storage (General Users)
| Key | Purpose | Category |
|---|---|---|
| Device UUID | Your randomly generated unique identifier for the Service | Strictly Necessary |
| Space participation data | Tracks your current Space and session | Strictly Necessary |
| User preferences | Stores any user-selected preferences | Functional |
4.2 Important Differences Between Cookies and Local Storage
| Feature | Cookies | Local Storage |
|---|---|---|
| Sent with every HTTP request | Yes | No |
| Accessible by server | Yes | No (client-side only) |
| Storage limit | ~4 KB | ~5-10 MB |
| Expiration | Can be set | No automatic expiration |
| Privacy impact | Higher (sent to server) | Lower (stays on device) |
Because Local Storage data remains on your device and is never automatically transmitted to our servers, its privacy impact is significantly lower than traditional cookies.
5. Third-Party Cookies
Colorflare does not use any third-party cookies. We do not use:
- Analytics cookies (e.g., Google Analytics)
- Advertising or marketing cookies
- Social media tracking cookies
- Any other third-party tracking technologies
6. Managing Cookies and Local Storage
6.1 Cookies
Colorflare does not use cookies. No cookie consent banner is required because no cookies are set on your device.
6.2 Local Storage
You can clear Local Storage data through your browser's developer tools or by clearing your browsing data. Please note that clearing Local Storage will:
- Generate a new device UUID (you will appear as a new user)
- Reset any stored preferences
- Remove your device transfer capability unless you have a valid transfer code
7. Do Not Track (DNT)
Colorflare does not track users across third-party websites and does not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) browser signals, because we do not engage in the type of tracking that DNT is designed to prevent.
8. ePrivacy Directive Compliance
Under the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC, as amended by 2009/136/EC):
- Colorflare requires no cookie consent because we do not set any cookies on your device
- Local Storage usage for strictly necessary purposes is similarly exempt from consent requirements
9. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.
10. Governing Law
This Cookie Policy is governed by the laws of Japan. For disputes related to this policy, the provisions of our Terms of Service regarding dispute resolution and jurisdiction apply.
